We are God’s children, you, me, all of us. That means we are loved by God, perfectly—whoever we are and whatever we have done. What’s more, we believe accepting God’s love changes us and we find abundant life in that relationship. We can share this grace here at Spirit in the Hills because two gracious churches stretched beyond their natural boundaries and held us in prayer and presence for two years.
Our Brief History
At the moment we are considered a mission congregation formed to serve the people of the Spicewood area (including Briarcliff, Lakeway, and Bee Cave). We began as a joint community with the congregations of St. Peter’s Lutheran, Marble Falls and Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran, Austin. From 2008 to 2010, we worshipped at the Briarcliff Community clubhouse. A converted art gallery became our worship home at Christmas, 2010.
Our Mission
Along the way we gave a lot of thought and prayer to our identity, which we call our mission statement: We at Spirit in the Hills are people diversely centered in Christ, inspired by the Holy Spirit and sent to share God’s love in the world.
Our Blessing to You
While exploring our identity, we also acknowledged a tendency to take ourselves too seriously. We recognize laughter, re-creation and a sense of humor are important gifts. As a result, we traditionally complete our worship services with the ancient apostle Paul’s encouraging words and our own brand of grace. We wish this for you now.
Go in peace. Share the good news. And have fun doing it.
